Animal Euthanasia Without Consent Of Owners: Petside
We’ll start this week’s edition of the Petside Digest by talking about the disturbing events that occurred when a veterinarian forced a kitten to be euthanized without the owner’s consent. New York residents Gerard Sagliocca and his sister Carmella White brought in their rescue cat Charmer, who was born with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus to Dr. Holly Cheever because the feline refused to eat. Cheever immediately recommended euthanasia, but the owner’s refused. The veterinarian took matters into her own hands, called the police – who seized the cat and brought him back to the vet – where Cheever euthanized poor Charmer.
While Cheever claims that Charmer had developed liver cancer and was suffering, his owner’s claimed that the cat did not appear ill and his only troubling behavior was that he wasn’t eating. Read the full story here at Petside!
